The New Balance MW956 walking shoe is tough enough for rainstorms and snowy city streets and cool enough for casual Fridays. This men's walking shoe features a leather and mesh upper with GORE-TEX® waterproof protection and a gusseted tongue to keep debris out. ABZORB® cushioning lends lasting comfort and absorbs shock, while the Ndurance® non-marking rubber outsole provides reliable traction in the New Balance 956 athletic shoe.
Unexpected issue with short size. Purchased 646 and 967 over last few months in same size and they fit fine. Well built, comfortable shoe. Reluctant to request return because I unexpectedly had to wear them in wet weather outside for a day. Would like to get a pair of the higher top style in this shoe, but would order 1/2 size larger. Seller should show caveat on size on website.
My only gripe is that the accent color for the toe is green...Black or brown would have made it perfect! I didn't observe this feature in the photos and was considering returning them because of this dislike, but I'll keep them for the comfort factor and Gortex dryness.
This shoe is intended for general walking plus photo expedition trail use in whatever weather may occur. As with all NBs, it is well made; it has a very convenient lacing system, making it easy to put on and take off. In this pair, the left shoe seems a little short, so it's not working well with heavier socks. Unfortunately, I had to wear the shoes on streets in inclement weather and didn't really discover the shortness until walking down a relatively steep incline. Since outside wear has occurred, I would not feel justified in returning the shoe for a size exchange, but will try to get by with a lighter sock. I think the seller might want to provide a caveat to potential buyers to go about 1/2 size larger. The size issue was a surprise, since I bought two other pairs of NBs in the last few months, a 946 and a 967, in the same size and they fit perfectly.
