Very comfortable, light-weight shoe. Great air movement, but a little too much on cold days. I can't speak of durability because I've only had them since Nov 09 and haven't worn them but a dozen or so times b/c it was just too cold.

I use them for excursions with the wife and son, for a stroll around the neighborhood, errand on a hot day, and for casual biking. They breathe extremely well and are very lightweight. Amazingly, my feet were the only body part not tired after a long day at Legoland.

My only mild disappointment is that the arch support is not as high as I expected based upon some other reviews. If Merrell sold a high arch insole insert for this shoe, I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

shoes are nice for commuting to work in a fairly rainy location. I found them lacking in arch and side support for rough terrain but very comfortable on paved surfaces. Very easy to remove though the laces seem to come untied fairly often if not tied very tightly. Overall a very nice shoe.

I bought these shoes for everyday use. They are extremely light and very comfortable and practical. Getting them wet while washing the car or when fishing is no problem as they dry quickly. They are a versatile shoe and look great with casual dress.

I have over 10 pairs of Merrells of all different kinds. My everyday shoe was a Waterpro Gauley before I bought these. I wore the Gauley's every day to the gym, work, stores, you name it I did it in the Gauley's. After a year of using the Gauley's I wanted to pickup another shoe to try something similiar. The Ottawa fit the bill, same airy ventilation system, same cushion system, lightweight, good traction, good looking shoe. Only thing I don't like about then new Ottawa is it doesn't have the Elastic Strap System the Gauley comes with. With the Gauley you set the tension on the strap system and slip your foot in/out without tying laces. The system is great on the Gauley, very snug fit, no issues with a loose shoe. The Ottawa uses a traditional nylon lace. Its a nice lace don't get me wrong but I now have to tie my shoes when take them off and put them back on. Would have been nice if Merrell carried this lace system over. Other than having to lace this shoe is great and if you are looking for a great lightweight everyday shoe by Merrell this one fits the bill. If you love having to not lace check out the Gauley.
