These shoes are perfect for late fall, winter, and early spring weather in Cleveland. They are warm, but not enough to be "hot" if you're wearing them indoors. They are also waterproof to keep your feet dry in rain, slush or light snow. And they are easy to take off (ie. just hold your heal with the opposite toe and lift - no bending over to untie).
I use them most of the time for running around on quick errands (ie. store, mall, drugstores, fast food, whatever). I especially love them for quick trips outside when I'm too lazy to lace up hiking boots, and it's too cold for or wet for sneakers or loafers (ie. to the mail box, pick up the paper at the end of the drive, taking the trash out, going out and helping your dad up the front steps). I no longer mind these quick minute trips outside!! They are also great when you make quick in/out ivisits to your relatives/friends, and need to slip off your wet/snowing shoes at the door. Great for quickly dropping off leftovers at my dad's. All this running around and my feet stay dry and warm!!!
While they are very comfortable standing and walking, I don't use them for hiking in the woods or 5 mile walks outside - that's not why I bought them. I'll use hiking boots in these cases. I use them with regular weight sweat socks, and they were comfortable right out of the box.
This was my first pair of Merrell's, let alone winter slip-ons. If they hold up, like it appears they will. They won't be my last!!
