My son borrowed my 9 year old pair for a boy scout trip and fell in love with them. So I ordered a larger pair for him that would fit him more comfortably and get him through the monthly camping and hiking schedule he'll be on. He loves the new ones even more since his feet are really a bit bigger than mine now. (@ 11) I don't know if his will fit long enough to explore two continents, mountains, deserts, 2000 year old towns, numerous concerts, museums, and festivals like his mother's, but we will take a shot at getting as much dust and dirt as possible on them.

I LOVE THESE! After about a 10 year break, I'm returning to Hi Tec shoes and I immediately recalled why once I put these on. They fit great and are true to size more than most other shoes I've worn (6'2", 250#, size 13). They are comfortable right out of the box. I'll be heading to the Philippines shortly, and these will be my primary shoes for travel and day-to-day wear.

I first purchased Hi-Tec Solitude for use while motorcycling because of the ankle support and protection. I was on a charity ride one weekend and dropped the bike at low speed on fresh, wet asphalt, trappiing my foot between the frame and the road. Wore a few ounces of leather off the right side of the boot, but was otherwise OK (can't say the same for the bike). Bought another pair of those boots, but after several years they're showing signs of wear. Couldn't find Solitude, but these seem to be an excellent substitute.

Have had Hi-Tec hikiing shoes in the past and liked their light-weight comfort. Based on the few times I've used the new boots so far, these seem the best I've had yet. I was surprised at how light-weight and comfortable they were right out of the box. They seem to be well made and sturdy. I expecially like the low ankle profile. I normally wear a 12 C in street shoes but because the toe box looked rather narrow, I ordered a 13 D, which feels perfect.

I use these boots everyday for work (property maintenance).This pair of boots is probably the 8th pair I have owned over the years.I wear them at work and on weekends for yardwork and hiking.They are very waterproof and the soles seem to last a long time.They are comfortable right out of the box but the leather does get softer and more flexible over time.
