nice trail shoe
9.81 Bolt DL Review:
Good purchase for light hiking.
Good Boot
Zenith Mid GTX Review:
Good dayhiking boot
Wonderful, but runs large
Zenith Mid GTX Review:
This runs a lot larger than most other Garmonts I have owned. I had to exchange for a half size smaller and even that feels big. Wonderful construction and support!
Great Winter Boot
Momentum Snow GTX® Review:
These boots are great for winter weather. They look more like a regular shoe than a boot, which makes them so much more functional than your run of the mill rubber snow boot. They're really warm, and you only need to wear one pair of regular socks with them, so no need to buy a size bigger in order to accommodate bulky or double socks.
Garmont Sticky Boulder - Men's - Blue
Sticky Boulder Review:
Searched for reviews online at many of the major shoe vendors regarding the Garmont Sticky Boulder, but found just a few not very helpful reviews. I normally wear a 12 D and ordered 12.5 D to be safe. Unlike many of the reviews of Garmont hiking shoes, the Sticky Boulder approach shoe does NOT provide an overly roomy toe area. In fact, the 12.5 D fit snug in the toe box with my small toe slightly rubbing the side. When tested downhill on an incline with laces intentionally tight to hold my feet from moving forward in the shoes, my big toes slighly touched the top and end of the shoe. It will take a 13 D - a full size larger than normal to correctly fit my feet. Sizing issues aside, the shoe looks exceptionally well-made. It seems easy to adjust for mild climbing situations and hiking/approach work due to the lacing system which goes all the way to the toe. As with most approach shoes, the support is fairly firm, and at the same time this shoe feels very comfortable. A small brochure about the Garmont ADD system was included in the box, providing details of the special engineering Garmont uses to make the shoe fit well and feel 'right' when walking. This should be 'required' reading prior to making a purchase decision about Garmont versus other shoes and can be found on their website. I'd previously tried the Scarpa Zen approach shoe, however, I found it uses European-style very narrow last construction which made a size 13 D rub my small toes on both feet, even after adjusting the lacing system in a loose fashion all the way to the toe. Garmont's Sticky Boulder does seem to provide a larger toe box per size, by direct comparison.
A true size 14 mountaineering boot
Tower GTX® Review:
I've just got it and have taken it up a few mountains and did a little ice climbing in them. Very comfortable and stable. I love how bright the red and yellow are. Its seems like a really good quality construction and light weight.
Great Boot
Momentum IceLock GTX® Review:
I use then all winter and they are warm and dry.
Tooo Tight
Momentum Snow GTX® Review:
Order it a half size bigger and You'll be okay.
Comfortable Boot
Zenith Mid GTX Review:
This is a nice boot. Before buying, I tried on at least half a dozen boots, all in the same category. I was looking for a waterproof hiking boot with ventilation. I have a low cut non-waterproof hiking shoe from Garmont that I was happy with for many years. But I was convinced that another brand would really wow me this time. My winter boots and casual shoes are both Salomon, and I absolutely love them. But for me, the fit of these Garmonts was better than that of the Keen, TNF, Salomon, Vasque, and others I tried on. I have faith in the reliability of GoreTex and Vibram. And these boots accommodate for my particularly wide foot, as well. I have used them in a variety of conditions, wet and dry, rocky, muddy, steep elevation, among them... and the one place it did not handle well was the metal floor of the restaurant where we went to refuel after the hike!
Good boot for active winter hiking
Momentum Snow GTX® Review:
Great winter hiking boot. Lightweight and breathable. Easy to put microspikes, crampons, or snowshoes on. Good tread and cushioning. These boots have met my expectations. I am not sure that I would recommend these for a standing detail though. Best for an active sport.
