Prior to leaving for a 5 week trip to Europe, I came down with severe Planter Fasciitis--first time ever. The podiatrist said I need a shoe with extra support and said his favorite was the addiction and the Beast. I explained to the podiatrist I wanted a leather shoe because I was expecting rain and snow. The Brooks Leather Addiction Walker was his only recommendation. In excruciating pain, I rushed out and bought a pair. From the first day, I was able to walk with minimized pain. I was able to walk all over Europe and each day my foot improved. By the second week I was walking normally, but if I tried to switch shoes, the Plantar Fasciitis would start to flare up again. Once I put the Addiction Walkers on, it would be fine. I have worn them for almost a year now, alternating with the Addiction Athletic mesh shoe. They amaze me for their ruggedness and durability. The leather doesn't appear to ever scuff or tear. I sometimes wonder if they used rhinoceros hyde to make them. The soles look almost new. Whenever I feel even a hint of tenderness I switch back to these and my foot is fine. If I go for a long walk, 3 miles plus, I wear these knowing I won't have a foot problem. With other shoes, I'll have to cut my walk short because I can feel the pain start to creep back. These are great shoes if you have a certain type of foot problem and need a lot of support. They keep my foot aligned perfectly and pain free.
