My son needed a sturdy, yet comfortable school shoe. He is a diabetic and his feet are a bit wide. These shoes are Timberlands, so very rugged to withstand the wear and tear of all day school wear. The leather is so soft my son says his feet feel so much better with these shoes. The shoes are not scuff resistant and run about a half size small. It does have great width to it so no breaking in necessary. All in all an excellent buy that didn't destroy my wallet.
