Resolve to Run: Week #4

Looking Back

As I have completed yet another successful week of my New Year’s resolution, it’s interesting to look back and realize how much progress I have made.

Four weeks ago, I was worried about completing a one mile run. Though I made it farther than I expected, it was still a struggle to get through it. I woke up each morning thinking, “How in the world am I ever going to stick with this? I am so tired, and all I want to do is lay around in my sweats and eat Doritos!” Today, I can comfortably say that the thought of a 4 mile run sounds tame. When I get home from work and want a snack, I grab carrots rather than a bag of chips. I feel so good throughout the day.

It’s amazing how quickly your body can get back into shape. Maybe it’s because I am still quite young, or maybe it has to do with the fact that, in every workout, I have pushed myself further than I ever thought I could go. I never gave up, even if I thought I was too tired. I was REALLY working out, not just getting out and “thinking” I was getting exercise.

Today, my body has been trained. If I miss a day at the gym, I can feel it. Fast food and potato chips no longer excite me (well, I wouldn’t turn down a chicken nugget if it were offered to me). The other day, I was so proud of a beautiful veggie tray I put together for snacking. SERIOUSLY!? Reading this over, you wouldn’t even think this was the same girl from 4 weeks ago!

I wasn’t sure I was going to be able to stick with this plan, but to say that I have…I am proud. Now that I know exercise doesn’t actually kill you :) , I want to stick with it. I’m so glad I know how good it feels to be in shape. I never want to go back to feeling the way I did before.

I think I have officially made it over the hurdle, I’m committed to the plan, and now it’s time to kick it up!

  • Molly,

kick it up girl! You come along this far and you have done very well!!!!! Oh I love munchy on veggies If I see a tray of veggies, I would get at it and will be the first and last person to finish the whole tray. :)

I enjoy reading your blog and hopefully someday I would be the same as you being so committed and knowing that you can, and knowing I can too!

    All the best!

congrats on a job well done but you must continue doing what you’re doing. As time goes on you don’t need to look for motivations and incentives because your body will look for it and you’ll feel that you’re gonna get sick if you cannot exercise; your body will really look for you the exercise. you’ll fabulous on that wedding gown. congrats again

  • you are doing great. Another reason to do this (not that you need it) but just think of the positive impact your having on Ty’s life, we all know what a problem Childhood obesity is in America and I think if more adults did what you your doing, that could be a thing of the past.

  • Great Job Molly! Is it true you would like to go into a Triathalon? Now is as good a time as any to incorporate the biking and swimming aspects of your training. You will do awesome!
