Keep pace with Molly, Onlineshoes.com’s Reformed Couch Potato, as she gets back in shape.
How do you go from a lifetime of laziness to fit and fabulous!?
Some people might know me as “Molly, from ABC’s The Bachelor” or “The girl he didn’t chose, but later took back… after dumping his first choice on national TV”. However, to those who are close to me, I am just an easy going, Midwestern girl who likes to cook, shop, and have a good time.
I have lived in the Midwest my entire life, born and raised on meat and potatoes. When I am stressed, I cook myself a big comfort meal. When I am feeling tired, I take a nap. When I am having a “fat” day, I snack on Baked Lays rather than Nacho Cheese Doritos. I have never been the type of person who consistently exercises, nor do I watch what I eat, but a recent change in my life has gotten me to start thinking about how I take care of my body.
Over the past year, I have been living a chaotic double life. Between working my day job and fulfilling the obligations of being on a reality TV show, I have found myself worn out and tired all of the time. I am not able to change the fact that I have to go to work every day, and I enjoy participating in the opportunities that come our way due to being on The Bachelor. On top of that, I have recently gotten engaged and am in the midst of planning a wedding, so how do I keep up with this lifestyle and feel energized while doing it?
After a lifetime of laziness and poor meal choices, the time has come to get healthy! I want to be able to run more than a mile without stopping to walk a few steps while no cars are around (I know some of you do this). I want to enjoy choosing the Whole Foods salad bar for lunch rather than a quick run to Taco Bell. Finally, I want to be able to stay awake for more than twelve hours without being absolutely exhausted.
As we ring in the New Year, I am determined to get out and exercise. Sure, there will be challenges along the way, but I want to hit the ground running (no pun intended) and set a goal to workout five times a week. As I get in better shape, I will push myself harder until I reach my ultimate goal…finishing the Danskin Women’s Triathlon!
All I know is that I want to feel good and enjoy every moment of my life, but the only way I am going to get to that point is if I put down the bowl of Doritos, turn off the re-runs of The Real Housewives of Atlanta (guilty pleasure), and hit the pavement!
Wish me luck!
