  • I have several resolutions for 2011. The first and most important is finding employment or making sales with my own companies. Next and as important is to eat better, exercise and try to live a better lifestyle so I can live long to see my children graduate college, marry, and have successful lives.

  • My New Year’s resolution is to keep up with my strengthening program by walking and exercising. I have spent 2 years recovering from a bad back. In reality it actually was a result of atrophied glute and core muscles that I attribute to too much driving. Now that I have no back pain or clicking joints, I do not plan to return to that state. And as a bonus I have lost weight and inches – just by walking!
I will walk and exercise to keep my back strong during the New Year!

  • My New Years Resolution is to get fit (haha- not too original). I plan on doing this by walking my dog everyday for an hour. I think both me and puppy will be much happier and healthier. So far I’ve been doing great and am feeling much healthier and have lost 4 lbs.
Now all I need is some new shoes :)
    Thanks

—By Tara A on January 13, 2011 at 9:18 am
  • This year my New Year’s resolution was to not make one. Instead I made two lists. #1. Things I am grateful for, and #2. My Wish List for 2011. I try to read over them each night before bed. I count my blessings and if I have any new ones, I add them to the “grateful for” list. If I have thought of any new wishes I add them to the “wish list”.
I try to envision small steps I can take to make my wish list attainable. I pray for them and for help in making wise choices that will help me realize some of those wishes. I sometimes journal about my thoughts and ideas related to those wishes and blessings.
My hope is that by the end of 2011 at least some of my wish list items will have moved to the “grateful for” list.

  • My resolution is to not worry as much. Sometimes I lie awake at night wondering about about all the what-if’s, and the should haves, could haves, and would haves. My husband and I have three children and it seems very stressful to keep all the balls in the air, but I know that worrying does nothing to help any situation that we might be experiencing. I will try to have more faith that things will resolve themselves as they should, instead of flying into a panic over every little blip on the radar.

I will keep trying bit by bit, but if not I am happy just to be exercising, and have been able to keep the walking up so that’s a good thing!

Like many others I have a goal of getting in better shape and losing weight. I have already seen a doctor for foot pain and been casted for 2 weeks to let my tendons heal. • When I 1st began wearing New Balance shoes 7years ago, it was the brand offered to me as diabetic custome shoes at my pediatrist’s office… I loved them!! For some insane reason, they stopped carrying them. They provided me with some crappy unknown brand, which fell apart in 5 months! …pretty please, give me back my favorite shoes… thx :)

  • At 51, what I’d been told for 30 years, that I had a congential back deformity, where several sacral vertebrae had simply failed to fuse when during earlier critical periods when they should normally have done so turned out not to be true. Improvements in medical imaging finally revealed that I suffered from a Grade 1-2 dislocation of the L4-L5 vertebrae at the S-1 level. The steriod injections that had provided with as many as 8 years of freedom from pain earlier in my life no longer “held” for longer than a week or two. Lack of flexibility was not the problem. I could easily put either leg behind the opposing ear, put my elbows on the floor with my legs in a full frontal extension, and similarly, raise my legs above my head, in a way that many yogi instructors and ballet dancers would envy. My options were to rapidly build strength, stamina and cardiovascular capacity, or to have back surgery, something that even my neurosurgeon wasn’t especially enthusiastic about undertaking. He advised that the surgery could be done if my pain was intolerable and didn’t respond to physical therapy. This chief of stereotaxic neurosurgery at the Massachusetts General Hospital outlined the pros and cons (the risks and the potential benefits)of the surgery, but made it clear that if I could tolerate the physical therapy, the outcome would likely be far more satisfactory for everyone involved. While I had to begin my PT slowly, eventually my New Balance Walking Shoes – the brand and style I have worn since my early 20s, when I first found the New Balance outlet in South Lawrence – and my back, foot and leg pain that alternated with numbness began to interfere with my work and play with ever-active toddlers and preschoolers, the fear over the impending surgery was similar to that of stars that shoot across the sky, leaving bystanders amazed and wondering what happened to the shooting stars that had just passed them seconds before.
