Brooks poses a great, simple question: When it comes to running, would you rather float or feel? Would you prefer to minimize your sense of contact with the road, or would you rather feel the texture of the running surface? Or, maybe it’s a combination of the two.
Personally, I’m more about minimizing any kind of impact, but that’s because my running style doesn’t seem to have a lot of “glide” to it. My legs are more like a couple of pile drivers, and I tend to connect with the road with a “That’ll teach you” attitude. But the whole idea of minimalist running shoes and barefoot running is rather interesting—especially when I see the new Brooks PureProject running shoes.
The Brooks Pure collection of running shoes are great-looking shoes that deliver the exact amount of road feel you want, without sacrificing the comfort or support you need. They come in three different weight classes.
LIGHT: Get the perfect balance of support and stability, and a natural foot strike in the light Brooks PureCadence™ running shoe. Weight: Women’s – 8.3 oz, Men’s – 9.5 oz
LIGHTER. Get a greater sense of ground with the Brooks PureFlow™ running shoe. Weight: Women’s – 7.5 oz, Men’s – 8.7oz.
LIGHTEST. Experience stability and comfort with the inverted heel and glove-like feel of the Brooks PureConnect™ running shoe. Weight: Women’s – 6.5 oz, Men’s – 7.2oz
Might as well call them cool, cooler, coolest. And the PureCadence running shoes sounds like a good transition shoe to try out this minimalist running stuff—maybe it’s time I tried feeling instead of floating. But first…
Let’s give a pair away! That’s right. One lucky person will win a pair of Brooks Pure running shoes; PureCadence, PureFlow, PureCadence—your choice. All you have to do is use the comment space below to answer this question:
“New year, new shoes, new play list: What’s your favorite new song to run to?”
We promise not to laugh at your 1980s New Wave throwback or Carmina Burana dub-step remix, but you do have to contribute something to the soundtrack to be eligible—just commenting on somebody else’s choice is not an entry.
Submit your entry by Wednesday, February 22, 2012 11:59 PM (Pacific) to be eligible. Anything after that is just a song we can hum, not an entry. Open to U.S. residents only. No purchase necessary to win. See contest terms and conditions for complete details.

“Always on my mind” is all that comes to mind….but I don’t run so much these days….more like “creeping”.
