As a native Seattleite and runner, I’ve done my fair share of running the Seattle full and half marathons. This challenging course was the first marathon I ever ran and I qualified for the Boston marathon. Pretty exciting!
This year, as part of the Chuckit Running Group, I got to run the Seattle half marathon as a pacer.
Start time was 7:30 a.m. so it was pretty chilly, but no rain. Yeah! When I laid out my clothes the night before, I didn’t think it was cold enough for full-length tights, so I chose the Saucony Ignite Tight Capri Turned out to be an excellent choice. The Ignite Tight Capri delivered chafe-free, breathable comfort while keeping me warm and dry.
All of the pace setters wore the ASICS Thermopolis® LT Half Zip top. This moisture-wicking top prevents chafing while a back mesh insert provides ventilation, and thumbholes help keep chilly hands warm. Yet another great choice for cool-weather running.
After I finished running as a pacer, I found my niece Jenny on the course at about mile 10. She was also running the half marathon and this was her first attempt at running 13.1 miles.
Billy, Jenny and I ran in the last few miles of the course together. Waiting at the finish line was my brother Mark, his two sons and my sister-in-law. How nice to be able to share the love of fitness with family!

That’s great you got to finish with your niece. I bet you are a big inspiration for her.
