Giveaway: Dream Hiking Package

Hiking Giveaway Closed

The Great Outdoors is about to get a little greater.

While it’s always hiking season for some folks, most of us tend to wait for the clouds to break and the days to get a bit longer before venturing out. When we do jump into our hiking boots, we’re inclined to go in all different directions. Some folks prefer a forested mountain trail, others need to feel a cool ocean breeze, and some people like to do their hiking in the middle of a city. Whatever your personal preference, everyone’s favorite hikes have something in common…pictures. And we would love to see them.

So much so, as a matter of fact, that we are willing to put up a prize package and have a drawing. And it’s a re-e-eally good prize package, too. All you have to do to enter the drawing is send a photo of your favorite hike to us at getingear@onlineshoes.com and include a short comment about why it’s your favorite. That’s it.

Your photos and comments will be posted on our Facebook & Flikr accounts and, at the end of the contest, we’ll put all the photos in a fabulous slideshow and post it right here on our blog. It’ll be awesome…think of it, great moments from all the best hikes you (as in, all of you) have ever been on. Such a fantastic show deserves an incredible incentive. Happily, we have one.

This grand prize package is grand in every sense of the word. If your name is selected in the random drawing, your Dream Hiking Package will include all of the following:

Wow, that is a good list. So, what are you waiting for? Go dig through your hiking photos and find your favorite image. If you don’t have a favorite one yet, then get out there and get one!

You have until 11:59 PM (PDT) Monday, August 15, 2011 to submit your photo and comment to getingear@onlineshoes.com. One more thing. PLEASE NOTE: Only emails with a photo AND comment will be considered an official entry. Anything else is just sharing. We’re looking forward to seeing your favorite hikes!

  • My favorite hike was at Camp Mitre Pike. This is a Girl Scout camp in Texas that featured 7 trails of all levels. One of our favorites was Big Boulder, where you scooted down the hill on different size boulders. What fun!

  • Hiking in Shenandoah National Park has always been something I want to do more and more of. It seems like there is always something more beautiful each time we go! Plus with so many trails no matter what age groups we bring we can always find a path to fit everyone’s ability.

  • My favorite hike was in Quebec, Canada. If you want a great workout and scenic view while enjoying what nature has to offer, Quebec is the place to go. I can’t wait until my daughter and I return for another breathtaking trip.

  • My favorite hike is in Caesars Head State Park it has long been a must-see in the South Carolina Upstate. A granitic gneiss outcropping atop the dramatic Blue Ridge Escarpment, it offers breathtaking views year-round, especially when fall sets the hardwoods ablaze.

  • My favorite hike was actually a week of hiking in Israel. The desert, the rocks the beauty the history the rugged terrain and heat all made the hiking incredible. My favorite day and most glorious view was a mountain called Gamala in the northern part of Israel on the northern tip of the Sea of Galilee. Wow! what a day…. We started at the top of the mountain and went down, the trip back up was hard but what a view!!!

  • Hey, I am new to the hiking world. I “tried” to hike Mt Ellinor this past Memorial weekend. I completely underestimated the task and was completely not prepared. I was a short 200 yards from the top when I called it a day. My goal is to climb it again next Memorial Day and make it to the top! More training and all the right gear and I will make it!!

  • Hiking in Cinque Terre, Italy was amazing I am sure it would have been more amazing if I could have taken in the view instead of watching my steps. Sandals are not appropriate footwear for a serious hike. I made it all the way but I plan to go back with the proper gear to hike and take in the scenery.
