First Class Travel Shoes

Your inside guide to finding the perfect sole mate.

Every journey you take begins with a single step. However, we know you’ll be stepping a lot more, so you should make sure that every step you take on your trip is a comfortable one…with these tips on choosing women’s travel shoes and men’s travel shoes.

The first rule of any trip is to pack light (especially with all the new bag fees!). And that’s no different for shoes. We recommend limiting yourself to no more than three pairs of shoes for travel to cover every occasion you might encounter:

Walking Travel Shoes.

Whether strolling the city or just a museum, you’ll want a simple and comfortable pair on your feet. While you might be tempted to just toss in sneakers, keep in mind that if you’re trying to keep a low profile, they could immediately identify you as a tourist. Try a more refined selection that’s lightweight with a durable outsole. A water-resistant lining is always a plus for unexpected weather.

Tropical Travel Shoes.

Toss in a thin pair of sandals, flip-flops or other open-style shoes for warm-weather destinations…or just sitting poolside at the hotel.

Dress Travel Shoes.

A night out is almost always on the agenda and you’ll want to look your best even if it’s just a private moonlight stroll. Lightweight is good, but comfort is key. Remember, you’ll have to hit the road again in the morning and blisters will put a cramp into any travel plan.

Of course, don’t forget about the shoes you’ll be wearing in transit. We can’t recommend airport friendly shoes enough. Not only for their comfort, but because they don’t contain metal to trip you up through airport security. And to keep you footloose, grab a slip-on, mule or slide for easy on and off to save you time through screenings or to give your feet a break.

Finally, when you find your perfect travel companions, make sure you wear your travel shoes two or three times before you take off to ensure they’re comfortable and won’t rub you the wrong way.

Bon voyage!
