KEEN Winter Boots Keep You “Chill” When Cold Weather

Women's Keen Bern High Boot
I’m not monogamous: I dally with other shoe brands, it’s true. And yes, for someone with hard-to-fit feet I have…well, a lot of shoes. But my one true love may be KEEN footwear: The Abelard to my Heloise; the Romeo to my Juliet; the Kermit to my Miss Piggy. I realize public admission of the following may open me up for a Shoe Intervention, but… I have something in the neighborhood of 15 pairs of KEENs.

Fif. Teen.

That’s a pretty crowded neighborhood. But, darn it, KEENs are where it’s at.

Now, if you don’t count my Voyageur Mid boots (the comfiest all-around hiking boots I’ve ever owned), only two of those pairs are Women’s KEEN boots, and they’re different colors of the Winthrop Boot—fabulous for my wide feet: They were lifesavers during Seattle’s 2008 snowstorms. (Psst! Jump on these babies now, because they’re in the Onlineshoes.com outlet and are priced to move!)

Another cute style (that is made on a narrower last—i.e., a bit too snug for me) is the Palermo. While this boot doesn’t remind me in the least bit of Sicily—not that I’ve been there—it’s very cute and, from all reports, very comfy.

KEEN’s most mainstream, dressy boot style to date is the Bern High Boot. I haven’t tried on the Bern, but I love how it’s shaped through the ankle and has a full-length zipper plus elastic and adjustable straps at the topline. Sassy-cute with skirts. (Bern, Switzerland: Another place I’ve never been. But I like the cheese)

Check out the Snow River, a sneaker-inspired winter boot available for both men and women. For more Men’s KEEN boots and shoes, go here.

Last but not least, if you’re looking for a rugged, weather-ready snow boot, you’ll love the Winterport II. KEEN.DRY™ waterproofing and KEEN.Warm™ insulation provide a cozy interior, the footbed has a thermal heat shield to keep the cold ground at bay, and the dual-climate rubber stands up like a champ to snow. Superb.

I DO have the Winterport shoe, and while this last runs plenty wide, you’ll definitely want to go a half-size larger than you normally wear—maybe a full size if you plan to wear extra-thick socks.

Ah, KEEN, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways…Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, after all! Sigh.
