How to Wear Your UGG® Classics

UGG® Australia boots have been around for years. Many of us jumped on the UGG craze when only the Classic boots were available. As time and trends have progressed, UGG silhouettes have also been updated, but that doesn’t mean our Classic UGGs are out of style. In fact, these may be the boots…that never go out of style!

Many times my UGGs are my “running to the grocery store” or “getting the mail” shoes. Their no-fuss, slip-on/slip-off silhouette is perfect for when you need to throw something on quickly. But I also never forget how versatile these boots can be. You can dress them up or dress them down, while remaining incredibly comfortable and warm at the same time.

Here are a few ideas on how to sport those UGG® Classic boots…other than with your baggy sweatpants…which I know you all do.

Let’s start with the UGG® Classic Short boot. This is one of the first styles to go mainstream. I love this boot because it is so easy to wear. Typically, I will throw these on with some bootcut jeans and a sweatshirt for a more casual look. This is the perfect, no-fuss look for those cold football Sundays. However, you could easily tuck them into some skinny jeans or leggings for a more updated look.

The UGG® Classic Tall boot is probably a little easier to wear with skinny jeans than the Classic Short, as they won’t bunch up as much. My trick, when tucking pants into boots, is to pull a dress sock over my jeans, to keep them from bunching up when I slide the boots on. Be sure the socks are thin, however, because that sheepskin lining is warm enough, even without socks.

Leggings are always a great pair to boots. Since they will be completely visible when sporting leggings, I like to have a little extra detail on my boot. The Bailey Button Triplet is perfect for this look. The button detail and foldover option gives your classic boots a little more edge. Throw on a tunic sweater and you’ve got the perfect outfit.

Now…if you are looking for the comfortable look of sweatpants and UGGs, there is a way to do it where you won’t look like you just rolled out of bed and threw something on. Pair the Bailey Button with some yoga pants, a tank top and a zip hoodie. This look is very comfortable, yet appears “put together”.

I don’t think I’ve given you any groundbreaking information, but I just wanted to touch on the fact that your Classic UGGs are far more useful than your average “grabbing the mail” shoes!

  • Thanks for the tips, Molly! I feel like I need a pair of UGG boots now. The Bailey Button triplet looks cute on you. Do you think they will look good on someone with really skinny calves relative to the rest of their body?

  • I also use socks to hold down my boot-leg jeans, but on the Bailey Button boot (single button), instead of a sock, since they are so low, I use a sturdy rubber band, about 1/4″ wide, around the bottom of my jeans. Carefully fold the jeans for the look you want and and put the rubber band around. It holds the jeans in the boot all day.
