Fitness Favorites for the Average Jane: KEEN Commuter II

Women's KEEN Commuter 2 Bike Sandal

This summer, I traded my hot, stuffy clip-in bike shoes and sweaty socks for easy, breezy clip-in bike sandals.

And these aren’t just any old bike sandals. These are KEEN Commuter II bike sandals packed with the KEEN features I know and love:

  • Protective rubber toe bumper
  • Water-resistant strappy adjustable upper
  • Antimicrobial lining
  • Removable footbed

Best of all, they’re compatible with clip-in bike pedals. (Cleats sold separately.)

I’ve found that the daily bike commute is a much sweeter journey with KEEN on my feet. And since the KEEN Commuter II sandal is cute enough and comfortable enough to wear off the bike as well as on it, it makes it that much easier to ride to all the places I love to go without having to lug along an extra pair of shoes.

Be it at the beach or on the bike, KEEN comes through with yet another uniquely stylish yet practical shoe.

Just clip in and pedal your way through a carefree summer with the KEEN Commuter II bike shoe.

Motivational Tips for Endurance Events

Seattle Rock n Roll Marathon

The Seattle Rock ‘n’ Roll marathon was June 25th. The following day, on Sunday, June 26th marked the Coeur d’ Alene Ironman competition. With an entry to the Rock & Roll half marathon and as an Ironman volunteer, eager to support and watch my brother and nephew (yes, father and son) participate in the Ironman event, I had the opportunity to experience both of these popular endurance events.

What I wondered, as I wandered through the Rock ‘n’ Roll Expo in Seattle and then the Ironman Village in Coeur d’ Alene, was what inspired these athletes to remain dedicated to their goal. Why stick to it? Through the rain, in the snow, on cold, dark mornings or blazing hot afternoons – what’s the motivation behind all the pain and hard work?

Fitness Favorites for the Average Jane: Merrell Gardena

Merrell Gardena Thong Sandal

“Hold on. I’m going to slip into something more comfortable.”

That’s the first thing I tell myself—tell my feet, rather—after a day on the trails, on the bike or a few hours out on a long run.

Almost nothing feels better after a workout than taking off sweaty shoes and replacing them with comfortable slip-on sandals. No socks to pull up. No laces to fumble with. Just sweet simplicity and the bliss of uncomplicated comfort. And in this case, the simplicity has a name: the Merrell Gardena Thong sandal.

Fitness Favorites for the Average Jane: the Jambu Stingray

Women's Jambu Stingray Sandal

I’m not much of a fashionista. If I’ve got money to spend, it’ll most likely be on running shoes, fitness clothes or some type of outdoor gear. (You can never have too much outdoor gear.)

So to find a shoe that’s sporty but also cute and comfortable scores big points with me.
The Jambu Stingray sandal is one such find.

With its breathable Memory Foamâ„¢ footbed and an eco-friendly partially recycled rubber outsole, this sporty slip-on offers comfort and traction for everyday commuting and urban adventures.
