With the arrival of fall, it won’t be long before the weather will change, and unless you live somewhere that is always sunny and bright (unlike Seattle!), you’ll probably need some boots to keep your feet warm and dry. Thankfully, you don’t have to choose between functional and fashionable boots any longer – OnlineShoes.com carries a fantastic selection of boots, many of which you want to keep on once you get indoors!

Here are some of the functional and fashionable boots that I love for this fall and winter.

Fall’s Must-Have Shoe: Menswear-Inspired Women’s Oxfords

Katie Kavulla

I know you hate to admit it, but summer is ending soon. I’m sure you’re starting to feel it in the air – even after a scorching day, the nights are cool and you’re searching for a cozy blanket in the evenings now, rather than sitting in out on the deck after dark.

The change in season also means a change in wardrobe and one of the first and easiest ways to transition what you wear from summer to fall is with your shoe choice!

Making another appearance this fall in women’s shoes are the menswear inspired oxfords for women. Not only are they easy to wear and comfortable, but oxfords are a fun way to add some interest into an otherwise plain outfit. You can pair oxfords with almost anything in your closet – feminine dresses of any length, skinny jeans (with a little roll at the hem!), trousers for work or even that cute pair of dressy shorts that you still can’t bear to tuck away for fall. As the weather gets even cooler, add tights or a little pair of patterned ankle socks with your oxfords and wear them all season long!

Espadrilles: Your Favorite Summer Sandal

Katie Kavulla

Summer is in full-swing right now (well, unless you live in Seattle, where it’s been a bit grey) – hopefully you’re basking in some sunshine, having evening BBQs with your neighbors and most importantly, getting outside to soak up summertime vitamin-D!

In my opinion, summertime wardrobes are the trickiest of the bunch. It’s very easy to go too casual during the summer without realizing it – I love my rubber flip-flops and tank-tops as much as the next summer girl, but on occasion, it’s nice to show some style in the summer too!

Dr Martens – They’re back and better than ever!

Women's Dr Martens Double Strap Mary Janes

Who went to high school in the late 90s like me?

Don’t be ashamed to admit it. We all have our skeletons.

When I was in high school (1995-1999, thank you very much), Dr Martens were all the rage. All the girls wore them – I wore these exact Dr Martens Mary Janes when I took my driving test at 16 and had a pair of  Women’s Dr. Martens 1940 Boots with rainbow laces in them that I wore regularly with dresses. And, who didn’t have a pair of  Women’s Dr. Martens 8092 Sandals back in the day?

My KEEN obsessed husband.

Men’s KEEN Boston Lace-up

Those who know me know how obsessed with shoes I am. What I haven’t told you is that my husband, Josh, has a bit of a thing for shoes himself. But whereas I am more of an equal opportunity shoe-lover, Josh is a shoe monogamist.

Josh only has eyes for KEENs.

As I started thinking about this blog post, I tried to count all the KEENs that Josh has owned over the years. It all started with a pair of KEEN Bostons about five years ago – he loved that he could wear them in the office, and could also be comfortable walking around on a job site for hours at a time.

March for Babies with the March of Dimes

One-day old Meg in the NICU

Why Katie walks for Team Meggers

Most people have heard of the March of Dimes, but not many know what they actually do. In truth, I didn’t really know either, until three years ago when our daughter, Meg, was born six-weeks premature.

The mission of the March of Dimes is to create stronger, healthier babies. They do this in many different ways, including educating pregnant women about how to have healthy pregnancies that will go to full-term; funding research in prematurity, birth defects and infant health so that every single baby can have the chance to grow up strong; and advocating for policies within our government and hospitals that give parents and babies the best opportunities available.

On Saturday, we joined our family and friends to walk for Team Meggers in Seattle’s March for Babies. This was our third year walking for this cause that is near and dear to our hearts. After Meg was born early, she spent the first two-weeks of her life in the NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) at Swedish Medical Center in Seattle.

A Week in the Life with Sandals

A self-proclaimed fashion lover (with a shoe obsession that runs deep) shares her favorite sandals to jump start her first week of spring.

Let’s talk sandals, shall we?

Personally, I’m a big sandal fan because I don’t really like wearing socks. Too much information? Maybe. But it’s true. ‘Sandal’ is a very broad term when it comes to shoes; generally, when you think of sandals, you think of open toes, straps and (best of all) sunshine!

Follow me as I brave my first week of sandal wear in Seattle!

Monday was the first day I was able to leave my UGG® Boots behind for the morning walk to school. The sun was shining and bright, and I knew that I had to bust out the flip-flops! Everyone needs a simple, easygoing flip-flop style sandal in their shoe collection. I love the Chaco Locavore Ecotread flip-flop. They are a go-anywhere style that you can easily transition from pulling weeds in your garden to grabbing dinner with friends. The sand color is my favorite—a nude-tone sandal always helps make bare legs look and feel longer!

My Latest Obsession: Open-Back Clogs

Katie Kavulla Guest Blogger

A self-proclaimed fashion lover (with a shoe obsession that runs deep) shares her favorite clogs to help ease the transition from winter to spring.

I don’t know if it’s the hint of spring in the air around Seattle, but the past couple weeks I’ve been dying to get out of my boots and into some open-back clogs! I love them in the transitional seasons because they still keep my toes covered up in case it’s raining, but they let me take off my socks for wearing with jeans or a maxi-dress, which is also great for this time of year. Plus, once the cool crisp air rolls back around in fall, you can slip them on with a pair of cute, cozy socks under your jeans and get double the use of them.
