Boots are alright I've owned Bates for the past 10 years, 2 pairs I got 8 years ago are still going strong through deployment and construction work, but I felt it was time to get a new boot. I figured I will try the cheaper version this time to test, and that wasn't the best idea. The boots themselves are as comfortable and fit as well as I expect with Bates. But the quality and durability of these leave a lot to be desired. After 2 months they're full of holes and the outer sole is starting to peel off on both and they've gotten very loose. I am hard on my boots yes but my other 2 pairs have none of these problems but I also spent the money on them. I would recommend these boots if you have an easy or light job and need something comfortable, or need something for just garrison work, not in the field for the military guys looking. These will most likely not hold up to harder work or in the field for long. If you need something stronger still stay with Bates but just spend the money on the better boots they have.

Good Lightweight Boot For HVAC Technicians As I full time licensed HVAC technician I own a ton of different boots. I switch off to meet the needs of that particular day. These are very reasonably priced and hold up well if you dry them out at night on a PEET boot dryer and rotate them. We really can tear up a boot with all the crawling around in crawlspaces and attics with dirt, gravel, jagged concrete, broken glass, shrapnel etc. We also work outside rain, shine, heat, cold, snow and get our feet wet daily. Lots of glues, solvents, sharp sheet metal etc... too. These pass for what you pay for them and supprize you how long they last. If you a) don't wear them daily (rotate) and b)invest in a boot dryer....they will last quite awhile. I also like how grippy the the sole is for climbing ladders and getting on roofs. I haven't slipped yet while wearing these boots. Other pairs can be pretty slick if you aren't careful. I've walked up a 6/12 pitch before with these boots on. I am the only guy at my shop who can do this. My boots I am wearing are part of my secret. :D

Comfortable and Lightweight I have been in the military for 5 years now, I have owned a lot of boots like Blackhawks, Rockys, Bellvilles, and Nikes. These have to be the most comfortable and lightweight boot I have ever owned. Straight out of the box they were comfortable with almost no break in period and superior waterproofing from the factory. I would definately recommend these 100% and will be buying Bates from now on.

Best boot ever owned. I am currently into my 2nd pair. I am still using my 1st pair for when doing my dirtiest outside activities. This 2nd pair seems to be a bit stiffer than the first but I still really have no complaints regarding. I have come upon the site writing this review to see if Bates offered any product to apply to the boot for "conditioning" to soften it some but I do not see any such product. If there is please let me know about it. Thanks.

Thank you for the outstanding feedback! As far as your question for a leather softener, they are many leather conditioning products on the market that you can use safely. Please feel free to give the team a call at 866.699.7374 so we can discuss in further detail.
