It's a good idea to have two pair of running shoes and rotate them. It will prolong the durability, performance, and cushioning of your shoes. By using two pair of shoes on a rotating basis you can extend the life of both pair of shoes, help keep your legs feeling fresh and actually reduce the incidences of injury because you are allowing a greater period of time in between runs for your midsoles to recover.
Rotating will allow your shoes to fully dry out before each run allowing the fabrics of the shoes to perform as well as possible. A wet shoe is a less stable shoe and you will be more prone to injury.
Get the shoes on a rotation schedule. One pair - the newest pair, should be used for your longer runs and your competitive racing. The other older pair should be used for your shorter runs.
